Our Commitment

DinoVara is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including those with disabilities. We are actively working toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance and continuously improving the user experience.

Measures Taken

We are implementing the following accessibility features:

  • Keyboard-navigable interactive elements (timeline, zoom controls, comparisons, maps)
  • ARIA labels and roles on custom interactive components
  • Color contrast ratios meeting WCAG 2.1 AA minimums (4.5:1 for normal text)
  • Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
  • Respect for prefers-reduced-motion — disabling smooth animations
  • Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy
  • Descriptive alt text on all dinosaur images and icons
  • Screen-reader-friendly dinosaur detail pages

Known Limitations

Some interactive features (such as the 3D-like timeline zoom and the Mapbox interactive map) may present challenges for certain assistive technologies. We provide alternative ways to access the same information — the dinosaur list sidebar, the all-dinosaurs searchable grid, and text-based detail pages are fully accessible.
